I just got one of these and like it quite a bit. One thing I'm noticing is that when I have the switch in the "Off" position, the bottom light remains on. Is this supposed to function like this?

What happens when a device tries to pull more than 1A while the Jumpr Quad is in Output mode (like most smartphones do now)? It looks like the Quad will just turn off and will not charge the device at all, turning it into a pretty useless power bank.

Asked by: JCar
Thanks for your inquiry! If any device plugged in to the Jumpr Quad's USB port tries to draw more than 1A, the Jumpr Quad will power down as a protection measure.

Can I use regular AA alkaline or non-rechargeable batteries as a power source?

Asked by: Alfonse
The Jumpr Quad's battery function was designed to be powered by rechargeable NiMH batteries, so this is not something that we recommend.

I have two-way radios with 3 AA NiMH battery pack.  Can a battery pack be inserted and charged on this device?  Would I have to add an additional AA battery to complete the series of 4 AA batteries?

Asked by: Stan
The Jumpr Quad is only able to charge in pairs, so you would need to add another rechargeable NiMH battery to the Quad in order to charge your 3-battery set.

What's the charging cycle termination strategy? Is it an independent channel charger?

Asked by: Reflector
Our Jumpr Quad will automatically stop charging when complete to prevent overcharging. The Quad is conservative and turns charging off early to have a safety margin. Some of our competitors use a timer in the last stages, however, we feel this method is risky and instead monitor the batteries directly (in pairs) and the individual battery which is most charged will stop charging for the pair when it is full.

Why only a 1.0A output? Why not 2.1A, compatible with an iPad?

Asked by: Ddoc
We designed it for a spec of 1A. The Jumpr Quad has NiMH batteries which have a lower operating voltage than Li-ion or Li-poly. Because of this, they must be designed in series to build voltage. When designed in series, the output current will be lower.

Asked by: Will Ferrell
No adapter is needed to charge the AAA's - we have designed this product to allow for AA charging or AAA charging.

1) Does it come with a charger? 2) What are the type ( such as NiMH) of batteries?

Asked by: snakepudding
The Jumpr Quad comes with a Micro-USB cable to charge up the batteries. All batteries that come with the Quad are standard NiMH batteries.
