I tried to charge my iphone 4s with a Kickr I, it seems like it´s charging and it does not result in "unsupported error"  but instead of increase the charge it decreases, it goes from 45% to 40% of charge while it is plugged to the Kickr I. Why?

Asked by: Ericka
Thanks for your inquiry! The Kickr I will provide a charge at a rate that is about 25% of a wall outlet (it may vary depending on conditions). For this reason, we advise the Kickr I can be used to "trickle charge" devices. If you're noticing that the charge level is going down, that means the amount of power being consumed by the device is more than that which is being supplied by the Kickr I. Try powering off your device while charging from the Kickr I to see a positive increase in battery percentage.

I am backpacking the John Muir Trail & want lightest possible charger for Galaxy S5.  I will be in direct sun all day & only use for my phone will be taking pictures.  Can I use Kicker 1? Can I remove the canvas cover for less weight?

Asked by: hikerneil
Yes, the Kickr I will be compatible with your Galaxy S5. However, you will notice that due to the size of the panel, it will charge significantly slower than the wall charger included with your phone. The nylon cover is removable.

Does the kickr I work with iPhone 5s?

Asked by: 0341
Yes, the Kickr I will work with an iPhone 5S, however, it is imperative that the solar panel is angled toward the sun, is not being used through a window, and has no shadows covering any portion of the solar panel. If sunlight is interrupted for even a moment, a timeout will occur and your iPhone may say the Kickr I is unsupported. You need only to unplug and replug the phone from the Kickr to restart charging. You can also use the Kickr I with one of our Jumpr series rechargeable batteries to alleviate this issue. Just leave the Jumpr plugged in to the Kickr to store power, then connect your iPhone to the Jumpr when you need to charge your phone!

Is the Kickr series waterproof?

Asked by: Yang
We would describe the Kickrs as water resistant. These panels and the USB ports have been waterproofed, so they can be submerged in water, however we can not guarantee the products you plug in will be protected. If your Kickr does get wet, please let it dry before plugging in any devices.

Can the Kickr charge my device directly (using a cable) or do I need to buy the Jumpr to charge my device?

Asked by: dissolvedgirl
Kickrs are able to charge most devices which accept power via USB. However, Apple devices are very specific about the minimum amperage they will accept (most other devices are not), and the size of the solar panel on both Kickrs I & II means they're often unable to sustain the amount of amps required by Apple devices. This often results in an "unsupported error".However, the Kickr IV is able to provide enough amperage to Apple devices so long as it is given access to full, direct, uninterrupted sunlight. (Using the Kickrs through a window is not recommended.)

Ideally what can I charge with this?

Asked by: grandmacool
Based on the small size of the solar panel, we would recommend charging a variety of portable batteries in our Jumpr Series. Leaving this out for a day with a Jumpr battery will easily provide you enough power to charge smartphones, cameras, and more a few times.

Will this work with samsung galaxy s3

Asked by: jayson
Yes, it will be able to charge the Samsung Galaxy SIII, though at a slower rate than our other solar chargers. We'd recommend using a Kickr I to charge a battery pack (Try our Jumpr Line), and then use the battery pack to directly charge your phone. That way, you can charge your batteries when the sun is up, then take the batteries with you and recharge your electronics whenever you please.
