Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this solar panel!! Purchased along with the surfr s4 case. This solar panel is so amazing, I'm pretty active outdoors and use it a lot. I've attached it to my pack pack, kayak, laid out at the beach, my pool, I have even attached it to my kids stroller when we were at the zoo!!!! It's a really great product and I use it way more often then I thought I would.

When it arrived I immediately put it through it's paces on an iPhone 5S, a USB powered battery charger charging 4 AA NiMH batteries and also on my SkyPro GPS module. Fantastic! This will be going with me where ever I go for EDC and rucking.

Will it charge an iPhone or iPad in a bright room, but without direct sunlight?

Thanks for your inquiry! The Kickr IV is designed to be used outside in bright sunlight. Some power may be relayed via the solar panels if used indoors, however, it will be a very small amount and may not be enough for some electronics to recognize it or to provide a useful charge.

Thanks for your inquiry! The Kickr IV is able to charge USB powered devices. Assuming prime solar conditions, the maximum current the solar panel provide is 1.2A.

So I've had this product for awhile now, I would use it when I do my military training to keep my phone charged. It's been put away and I attempted to use it again. It is not working. Any possible way to figure out as to why it is not working?

Will it automatically resume charging after it has been shaded and unshaded?

For the most part, yes! However, Apple devices may give an "unsupported accessory" error when the voltage drops and will not automatically resume unless you unplug and replug in the device.Our Kickr IV+ has an integrated battery designed specifically for this situation. The battery kicks in whenever the voltage dips (assuming the integrated battery is charged), and turns off when sunlight comes back, allowing the solar panel to take over.

Will the Kicker IV charge in bright ambient light (cloudy day outdoors) or does it need direct sunlight.

Our Kickr IV will absolutely work in ambient sunlight! However, please note that the voltage will be reduced, which means charging time for devices will be longer and some devices (such as Apple devices) may give an error.

I have this product, after it was slightly splashed by a bit of rain water (not submerged in water), it stopped working. What can be done? I was so disappointed as the panel was very new then. Pls also explain the difference between this and the IV+

The panels themselves will not be damaged by water. However, if there are electronics plugged in to the junction box while it's wet, either the junction box or electronics plugged in to it could short out.Aside from design differences (binder-style folding with pockets inside), the Kickr IV+ has an integrated battery to ensure uninterrupted power should the panel become momentarily shaded.

Could the Kickr IV charge a car battery if left over a day or two in direct sunlight?

The Kickr only puts out 5 volts and will charge most cell phones and tablets that use a USB connector. A car battery requires about 13-14 volts for charging.
